Who says the first hole is supposed to be easy? A strong drive just left of the bunkers is the only way to set up a good approach, and anything short on the approach shot will bound to the right either in the greenside bunker or further down the hill. Don’t worry about the two-tiered green unless your chipping – just getting on the green in two is a victory here.
